چکیده
Abstract The risk of large carnivore mortality from anthropogenic sources is increased in areas where frequent human-carnivore encounters are high. Translocation a potential tool for reducing these conflicts and re-establishing wild populations. Determining proper translocation sites tigers important securing their future. In this research, we quantitatively evaluated the habitat suitability tiger area on Kampar Peninsula, peatland landscape Sumatra. This essential conservation local population, but its role as has rarely been investigated. We conducted research region with mosaicked land-use types covering an 7,045.89 km 2 . applied species ecological niche factor analysis (ENFA) to model using presence ecogeographical variables bases. predicted that approximately 60% study tiger-suitable varying levels. characteristics dissimilar global characteristics, high specialization value obtained indicates inhabit very narrow niches. Considering low density peatlands, estimate carrying capacity whole 13 tigers. Therefore, conserve viable it necessary maintain connectivity between peatlands Kerumutan situated south Peninsula.

Characterizing human-tiger conflict in Sumatra, Indonesia: implications for conservation
Human-tiger conflict occurs in Indonesia but mediate disturbance areas such as multiple-use forests where tigers and people coexist. In Indonesia there is a there is little recent information about the scope of the problem, and adequate policies are not in place to address need to develop a definition of problem tigers, a database to track conflicts, and a process to respond immediately to the ...
متن کاملPrioritizing Tiger Conservation through Landscape Genetics and Habitat Linkages
Even with global support for tiger (Panthera tigris) conservation their survival is threatened by poaching, habitat loss and isolation. Currently about 3,000 wild tigers persist in small fragmented populations within seven percent of their historic range. Identifying and securing habitat linkages that connect source populations for maintaining landscape-level gene flow is an important long-term...
متن کاملAssessing the effects of management alternatives on habitat suitability in a forested landscape of northeastern China.
Forest management often has cumulative, long-lasting effects on wildlife habitat suitability and the effects may be impractical to evaluate using landscape-scale field experiments. To understand such effects, we linked a spatially explicit landscape disturbance and succession model (LANDIS) with habitat suitability index (HSI) models to assess the effects of management alternatives on habitat s...
متن کاملTechniques and Technology Note Landscape Habitat Suitability Index Software
Habitat suitability index (HSI) models are traditionally used to evaluate habitat quality for wildlife at a local scale. Rarely have such models incorporated spatial relationships of habitat components. We introduce Landscape HSImodels, a new Microsoft Windowst (Microsoft, Redmond, WA)–based program that incorporates local habitat as well as landscape-scale attributes to evaluate habitats for 2...
متن کاملUncertainty in Various Habitat Suitability Models and Its Impact on Habitat Suitability Estimates for Fish
Species distribution models (SDMs) are extensively used to project habitat suitability of species in stream ecological studies. Owing to complex sources of uncertainty, such models may yield projections with varying degrees of uncertainty. To better understand projected spatial distributions and the variability between habitat suitability projections, this study uses five SDMs that are based on...
